13/11/2024 Today Finns dad; Gavin Harte, came to are school and did a workshop about energy, how it is created and how much we use of it daily. The first half of the workshop he had light bulbs, a bike and a miniature motor. The bikes back wheel was off the ground and had a motor and when he pushed the pedal the light bulbs lit up. In between the bike and the light bulbs was a computer that measured the watts, volts and the amps. Gavin let us go on the bike and see how many watts we could produce. Seb got the highest score of 130 watts with an average speed that he could maintain steadily for a long time of 50 to 59. So we would measure how many Sebs it would take to power some thing like an xbox. In the second half of the workshop Gavin had an exercise bike hooked up to a blender. He and Finn put banana, yogurt and juice in to the blender and when we pedalled on the exercise bike, the blender blended the smoothie. When we were done most of us got some smoothie to drink and that was the end of the workshop. We all had a great time and I would like to do it again.
