Although it was grey and overcast, the atmosphere in DSP was bright and cheery! The morning started with a lovely gathering in the hall. Bright decorations, warm drinks and warm chats!

Joining us were Margaret and Anne from Barnardos who received a cheque for €1,198 which was raised by the school community during our seasonal festivities (Festive Fair and Seasonal Sing-along) in December. The cheque was proudly presented to the Barnardos by the Student Council on behalf of the school community.

After the coffee morning, dance lessons began for the children. Meanwhile, Anne and Margaret visited the classes where the children had the opportunity to explain how they made the money. Anne and Margaret were very impressed to hear how the children each donated €5 from the Festive Fair (with some donating more) and how they raised more money from your generous donations at both the Festive Fair and the Sing-along.

Margaret and Anne then explained to the children how the money would be spent. The children were happy to hear the positive impact their effort would have. The funds can provide the benefit of Friendship Groups for almost 500 children, hot meals for 3 children for a year or pre-school access for a number of vulnerable children.
