Fostering relationships – Peer Mediation training

We are delighted to have started Peer Mediation training in 5th class. After an eight week programme the 5th class children will have the option of helping with friendship issues at yard time.
The training is quite vigorous as to be a successful peer mediator requires very good listening skills, and a no blame approach. The first session involved creating a group contract or agreement about working safely together.
Some ideas included:
I feel safe in a circle when everyone is listening and understanding.
I feel safe in a circle when everyone respects each other.
