What a Community!

First Final Friday Coffee Morning – Thinking of Nadya

The first of our ‘Final Friday Coffee Mornings’ was held in the hall on Friday morning. It was lovely to see so many of our community coming together, especially as a loving and warm support for Simon and Aleksei. Lots of wonderful stories of Nadya’s generosity of spirit and love for her family were shared.

Pre-loved Sale

Our pre-loved sale was a great success again this year! Reduce, Reuse and Recycle!! Thank you so much to all the volunteers who worked hard to make it so. It’s a great way to make sure our children are kitted out for the wet and cold weather ahead as well as helping us to reach our sustainable goals. Subject to weather we hope to move our Pre-loved Market outdoors in the mornings ahead. Look out for bargains hanging from the railings and on the tables outside!

Patio Power!

Huge thanks to the wonderful volunteers who have given their time and energy to rejuvenating our upstairs patio area. It looks amazing already! Lots of work is going into painting to get the walls ready for an art piece by the children. One of our volunteers who is readying the walls for the new art work is actually a past pupil who painted the original art work while they were a student here. Our fantastic patio team are also making the area as sustainable as possible with plants and bulbs being sown and creative ways of making the area more green being discussed.

DSP would welcome any decking wood you might have available. Maybe leftover from a project? If you do have some, please send details and photos of the wood to the office at info@dspns.ie and a member of the team will be in touch.

Sustaining Sustainable!

A huge thanks as always to our Forest School and Gardening volunteers. These programmes which help us reach our sustainable development goals are sustainable because of the volunteers.

Forest school and the Gardening Club allow the children to build connections to each other and the world they live in, promoting an ethical approach to the environment!

Both aim to foster resilient, independent, confident and creative learners using a flexible approach and the natural resources around us.
