It was a windy and bright day in the forest today. The gorse was in full bloom and we noticed the dark patches on the sea and figured out that it was probably shadows from the clouds overhead.

The children know the structure of the session:
- Welcome circle
- Journey to base
- Arrival including site risk assessment
- free play – reconnect & set up
- Lunch & a story – The Silver Branch and the Journey of Cormac mac Airt
- Focus activity choices
- Sit spot
- closing circle and tea.
It is such a pleasure to see the variety of choices that children make about their learning, having had lots of experience in Forest School through their years. In this session we had some children who chose:
- building nests
- taking part in imaginary play fighting
- whittling tent pegs
- exploring on the rocks
- noticing living creatures
- putting up hammocks
- building dens
- swinging
